Chris - MineGeoTech - Early Career Engineering Geologist

BSc (Geology, Physical Geography)

Chris is an Engineering Geologist with over 9 years of experience in geotechnical engineering having worked a range of roles from ground investigation coordinator to engineering geologist and field manager in New Zealand, Australia and various countries throughout the South Pacific. He graduated from the University of Auckland in 2014 with a BSc in Geology and Physical Geography.

His experience includes a combination of site-based and project-based work. Previously he worked as a consulting engineering geologist throughout New Zealand working on multiple civil engineering projects ranging from transport, energy, subdivisions, tunnels, and wastewater/stormwater. During his time as a consultant in NZ, he was involved with several Grant Aid projects in the pacific including Solomon Islands, Micronesia, Fiji, Tuvalu & Marshall Islands.

Chris now works in MineGeoTech’s geotechnical site support group where he is learning to apply his extensive civil dominated engineering geology experience and knowledge to operational geotechnical support roles for mining operations.  Chris is an enthusiastic and capable engineering geologist with a thirst to learn and provide a high level of client satisfaction.

His key specialties include:

  • Field management and geological lead for large site investigations.
  • Geomorphological mapping and slope stability assessments (including proficiency with GeoStudio’s Slope/W).
  • Analysing ground conditions/ drill core and development of geotechnical ground models.
