Chamila Nishshanka
Core Logging Supervisor | Geotechnical Data Collection and Analysis

What is your role, and how long have you been at MGT?

I’ve been with MGT since November 2015, so 5 years and 10 months. I first started as an admin assistant, supporting engineering; core logging supervisor, and assisting the team.

What sparked your interest in this field?

I’ve always loved the mining sphere and analysing rocks.

Share a memorable project story.

The first project at MGT I was given is a memorable one. It was a hydrology project, and not knowing much at that stage in my career I learned and researched a lot and did it well.

What is a quote that has stuck with you?

Whatever happens, it happens for the best. Sometimes it may not seem like it, but someday later you realise it is.

What advice would you give to aspiring geotechnical engineers?

Be honest, and be dedicated to your job as it gets hard sometimes.

Who in your team would you like to give a shout-out to?

Peter – he has been able to reach many successes, and is a good team player, helping me a lot when I first started at MGT.

The MGT Way is engineering advice
grounded in rigorous data analysis, enabling robust design.
